Southern York County
Over the last 30 years this area has experienced tremendous growth. The southern area of York County Pennsylvania including Shrewsbury, New Freedom, Glen Rock, Stewartstown, Shrewsbury Township, and the surrounding area has been very popular with Baltimore Commuters. More recently the Baltimore influence has migrated further north into the Red Lion and Dallastown areas. The addition of the Shrewsbury Wal-Mart, the new Shrewsbury Giant, and the Home Depot has drawn other national businesses such as Hampton Inn, Starbucks, Chik-Fil-A, Ruby Tuesday's, Bill Bateman's, Pier 1, and more.
Even as the new influence of national chains continues to flow into our county, our heritage still proves itself as the true attraction to the area. Farmers markets such as the Markets of Shrewsbury, Brown's Orchard and Farm Market, and the Brown Cow still draw weekend travelers and day trippers from all around. Our lakes, streams, and beautiful York County Parks along with the Heritage Rail Trail draw a wide variety of visitors to the area.
