Monday, August 10, 2009

Presented By Chili’s Grill & Bar, Proceeds To Benefit St. Jude Children’s Hospital

For the first time in franchise history, the York Revolution will be holding a charity golf outing. This special event will give fans the opportunity to golf with their favorite Revolution players and coaches. The tournament is presented by Chili’s, and is scheduled for Monday, August 10 at Heritage Hills Golf Resort & Conference Center in York.

“We want to ‘pepper in support’ for St. Jude Children’s hospital. Yorktowne Chili’s is combining forces with the York Revolution to raise money for the hospital,” said Lisa Mellinger, General Manager of the Yorktowne Chili’s. “With all the proceeds benefitting kids with cancer, we hope everyone comes out to show their support,” continued Mellinger.

On August 10, check-in will begin at 10 a.m. The 18-hole tournament will tee-off with a shotgun start at 11:30. The playing format is a scramble- choice of the captain in each foursome (four players plus one member of the Revolution). All players will play at least nine holes with a York Revolution player, member of the coaching staff, or team representative. Players should also be ready to compete in such side contests as longest ball, closest to the pin, and an on-course skills competition. Other prizes will include “Best Team,” and “who has the most fun.”

“We hope any local golfer takes advantage of this opportunity to play a great round, while doing something great for charity and hanging out with our team,” said Revolution Director of Business Development John Gibson.

“It’s a unique opportunity to meet the players personally. In some cases, baseball talent translates to golf. In other cases, it does not,” Gibson went on to say.

The tournament after party, which will start immediately after play ends, will feature complimentary beverages and food. The raffle and silent auction will include sports memorabilia, dinners and other giveaways.

The entry fee for a foursome is $450. Individuals may also enter and be placed in a foursome, at $125 apiece. The entry fee includes a goody bag with premium giveaways, greens fees, a cart and the tournament after party with complimentary food, beverages, a raffle and silent auction. On the course, golfers will receive a boxed lunch and complimentary water and soda.

Proceeds of the York Revolution Golf Tournament will benefit children cared for at St. Jude Children’s Research Hospital. The entry sheet can be found on the home page of YorkRevolution.com, and payment may be made in either check or credit card. (No cash). The entry sheet also includes a spot for interested sponsors to sponsor a hole at $250, and/or donate an item for the silent auction.
